Pictures Don’t Appear in Text Messages on iPhone

“Hi, I got my iPhone 6 yesterday and messed with the settings to fit my needs. Everything looks fine, no problems, but when a friend sent me a picture, it showed for about half a second then showed a downloading image picture. I had her send a few more but this is what came up. More downloading images. Any help on resolving this would be great, Thanks!”

Have you met the problem as well? If so, you are not the only one that suffer from the problem of pictures don’t appear in text messages on iPhone.

Phenomena:when you receive the picture in text messages and iPhone ask you to “Tap to Download” and when you tap, it shows “Downloading” but never does.

Here we will show you the solutions for this problem.

Make sure MMS Messages is on

What is MMS? It is Multimedia Messaging Service which allows you to send and receive pictures, videos and audio messages through text messages on iPhone. If you have MMS disabled on your iPhone, you will not allow to send or receive multimedia messages like photos, videos or audio clips. Below step will show you how to turn on MMS in text messages.

Go to Settings> Messages, scroll down and check if the MMS Messaging switch is toggled on.

If MMS Messaging was on, try below ways.

Re-Sign in your Apple ID

It is possible that there are some corrupt files in your iMessages, so you need to sign out iMessages to delete those old files.

Go to Settings> Messages> Send& Receive, tap your Apple ID and tap on Sign out. Then tap Use your Apple ID for iMessages, reenter your Apple ID and password to sign in again.

Reset iPhone’s network settings

If above two ways can not work for you, you could reset your network settings. Please make sure that you know your Wi-Fi name and password as you need to re-enter it to log into Wi-Fi after the reset.

Go to Settings> General> Reset, tap on Reset Network Settings when prompted. Enter your iPhone passcode if needed. Tap Reset iPhone Network Settings to confirm the reset. Then your iPhone will be power off and restart automatically.

Other Reasons

If you have tried all of above ways and it still can not fix your pictures problem in messages, it may be due to the network of the person who sending the pictures. You could send with others to have a try if the same problem happen. Hope this post will be helpful to you.
