Useful Text Messages Tips for iPhone

iPhone message app, as Apple’s built-in instant messages service, is used daily for sending and receiving messages, photos, audios and videos. Here we share some useful tips of iPhone messages for you to enhance your overall iPhone experience.

Read Receipts

Messages allows the sender to know if the recipient has read the messages. If the recipient has read receipts enabled, the “Delivered” below an iMessage’s bubble will change to “Read”. Go to Settings> Messages> Send Read Receipts, swipe left to right to turn on it.





Mute a Conversation

Messages notification can become a distraction. If you want to turn off the notification, just tap on Details on the top right of the conversation and turn on Do Not Disturb. This only mutes the conversation you select and you still can receive messages.



Share Location

Not only text messages and audios, messages app also you share your location with your contacts. Tap on Details and look under Location, there are two options: Send My Current Location and Share My Location. With “Share My Location”, you could share your live location for a period of time- one hour, end of the day or indefinitely.



Undo Typing

If you do not want to delete the messages you have typed, iPhone allows you to shake your iPhone to delete messages. With Shake your iPhone and tap Undo Typing to delete messages and shake your iPhone again and tap on Redo Typing to retrieve original messages.


Type Emoji with Shortcuts

If you like to use Emoji in messaging but don’t like to switch the virtual keyboards repeatedly, go to Settings> General> Keyboard> Keyboards> Add New Keyboard> Emoji, then go to Settings> General> Keyboard> Add New Shortcut. Insert a frequently used Emoji in Phrase. Insert a text in Shortcut which will be used to convert to Emoji.



Block Sender

A sender of unwanted messages can be blocked by tapping the “i” next to their name, then Block this Caller. This also prevents FaceTime and phone calls from that person. You can review everyone you’ve blocked under Settings > Messages > Blocked, and unblock them if necessary by tapping Edit, then the red minus button next to their details.



Recover Deleted Messages

If you accidentally deleted some text messages on your iPhone, just need a iPhone messages recovery tool, iRefone to help you recover these deleted messages. Just download iRefone or iRefone for Mac and run it. Then connect your iPhone with computer, click “Messages” icon to scan the messages in your iPhone. When the scanning is finished, all of the messages, including these deleted messages can be previewed in the interface.
